E-Rate Assistance
Overview
The schools and libraries universal service support program, commonly known as the E-rate program, helps schools and libraries to obtain affordable broadband. Although the E-rate program is administered by the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC) under the direction of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), because E-rate is integral to supporting communities and school districts and is an eligibility requirement of the Alaska School Broadband Assistance Grant , the School Finance team provides E-Rate support to schools (including state-supervised Head Start programs) and libraries.
